Nordic Skiing

The Whiteway offers a great way to enjoy the Valley’s milder winter weather. It is the world record holder for the world's skating path. Beside the skating trail is a track-set cross-country trail perfect for wide open glides amidst stunning scenery, along with a cleared walking path and skate-ski area. After your ski, relax by the Kinsmen Beach shoreline where there may be a wood-burning fire going or have a seat at the concession stand (open seasonally).

The Whiteway is accessible from Windermere Beach in Windermere, Kinsmen Beach in Invermere, and James Chabot Provincial Park, by A&W restaurant. The closet access point to our Fairmont Hot Springs vacation rentals is Windermere Public Beach, a scenic 10-minute drive away.

Lake Lillian is a small lake tucked away in the mountains with set nordic skiing tracks. Take in the mountain views and bring your furry friend along with you for a day of skiing! Lake Lillian is also known for fantastic ice fishing opportunities, ice skating paths, and sightseeing. Lake Lillian is closest to our Panorama rentals, located a 15-minute drive towards Invermere.

Nipika Mountain Resort is a unique winter haven located just outside of the Kootenay National Park boundary. Nipika offers hundreds of KM's of groomed cross-country skiing paths for all skill levels. Bring your lunch for a picnic in one of the cozy warming huts after a morning of taking in views and Hallmark-worthy winter wonderland trails.

The Panorama Nordic network offers more than 20 km of groomed trails for classic cross-country and skate-skiing. Different routes are available for all levels of skiers, from beginners to advanced. Take in beautiful views of the mountains and Toby Creek. Guest can travel a 12 KM loop out to the Hale Hut Warming Cabin for an unforgettable afternoon in the mountains with spectacular views.
